Girona is an impressive modern town which houses a terrific historical old town. The Costa Brava is only 35 km away from the coast in the hinterland. With about 70,000 inhabitants it has a pleasant size, neither small nor great and can be inspected well in a day. The main attractions are the Gothic cathedral from the 11th century as well as the medieval Jewish quarter "tbsp call" in which one still finds the synagogue and Arabian baths. The old part has primarily kept his medieval atmosphere there. The bridges give a picturesque impression of this over the river Onyar. The old town almost reserved for the pedestrians completely climbs to the east shores with her colored painted houses. A pleasant town to loiter, go shopping, sitting in street cafés or going out to eat well.
